Tuesday

eternity.

have i mentioned before that all of my friends are geniuses?

mike fleming and alicia eggert are debuting their Eternity piece (along with other work related to time) for one night only - next friday in philadelphia at progressive sharing. the exhibition will last exactly 300 minutes. Eternity, which is written with the hands of 30 clocks, will last only one split second. i can't be there, but you should go see it fall into place at exactly 8PM!

Wednesday

mail call!

in the past week i received mail from two wonderful people that i haven't seen in way too long.

the first was from my friend ryan in chicago who sent me these sweet navin/marie marrionette puppets.

the second is this AMAZINGLY PERFECT 3D holographic horse postcard from my philly friend jackie j. i literally squealed when i saw it. thank you both!

Sunday

banana splitin'.

6 or 7 cans. let's hold hands.

Thursday

never nothing.

some friends and some friends of friends have this great photo blog that collects all of the small and large moments of their days from all over the globe. check it out!

Sunday

lost & found.

the vivian maier story has inspired me to begin to scan the some one hundred 23/4" x 23/4" glass slides that i have of an unknown family. the only information that i can figure is that they seem to be from florida and they range from 1951 to 1953. many of them are of vacations to cuba and miami and others are of various family members on front yards, in swimming pools and beautiful gardens. i got them about 5 years ago at a stoop sale in philadelphia. finally scanning them, and actually having them scan fairly well, is very exciting to me. i've always wanted to utilize them somehow, but they've always felt 'off-limits' and too precious. maybe scanning and sharing will be a good start.

Thursday

a love letter.

i've been feeling homesick for my hometown.

Saturday

portraits of past.

if you are in or around philadelphia you should go see this show at space 1026. it features two mega amazing photographers; shawn brackbill and maggie manzer, the latter who is the genius behind progressive sharing and might be my brain twin. if you get to go, i'll be jealous!

Thursday

resonant frequency.

this piano rubbing by richard schort is from music & sound, the amazing first show at philadelphia's most-best and newest gallery, progressive sharing.

Tuesday

a room - a loom.

i think that today i am going to go see / participate in this.

{here are a few of my photos, thanks to luren for contacting me!}

Friday

road trip.

this weekend i'm heading out on the road! i'll be visiting my family and friends up north for two weeks and i am so so so excited. posting might be sporatic, but it will include thrilling updates and photographs from philadelphia, new york city and buffalo!

Wednesday

up on the roof.

this is where the elevator leads - to cool air and the 3am philadelphia skyline.

Thursday

adler and doonan.

today is going to be a good day because i'm going to see both of these handsome men speak, one after the other. and then tomorrow....i'm going back to philly! i'm sooooo excited for a weekend family, friends, fun and food!

p.s. this was GREAT! they were both really funny and said "groovy" a lot and it was really inspiring and their dog licked my hand. :D

Monday

philly neon.

while doing some research for school i stumbled across the work of len davidson. a philadelphia neon sign maker/enthusiast/collector. he is also the curator of the neon history museum in philly at the new american institute of architects' headquarters at 1218 arch street, something i wish i knew had existed when i still lived there.

Tuesday

one on one.

i've always loved david hockney's etchings. artist and model, half-ground etching, soft-ground etching, & sugar-lift aquatint; 1973-74.

Thursday

Saturday

james castle.

i went and saw the james castle retrospective at the pma and it was really really wonderful. i couldn't find my most favorite piece online, but he drew people with little rectangle landscapes for heads and it blew my mind. the found cardboard assembleages were also so perfect. really really wonderful.

speaking of dancing.

last night i went dancing for the first time in aaaaaaaaaages. it was my favorite soul/funk/mod night and it was great, although my legs are a little sore today. i guess that i'm not quite yet the dancer that beyonce is! that video is completely mesmerizing, i've watched it like 50 times. picking up some tips.

Sunday

life archive.

you can now search the millions of photographs from the LIFE magazine photo archive through google images. it's pretty awesome.
