Friday

in the room where you sleep.

the past couple of days i've been listening to the dead man's bones album over and over again. you pretty much can't go wrong when you pair together two handsome actors {ryan gosling and zach shields}, semi-spooky love songs and a children's choir dressed in homemade costumes. it's perfect fun fall music.

mew mew.

ok, so, everyone is freaking out about the alexander mcqueen spring 2010 show {and rightly so!}, but the spring collection for miu miu has won my heart {even more than usual.} perfectly-waisted pencil skirts, sharply tailored pants, beautifully finished tall cuffs and elongated collars, all in sublime cat-printed {love-love-love!} neutrals and topped off with long horse-girl braids. it's magnificent.

Wednesday

saut dans le vide.

yves klein used this photograph as evidence of his ability to undertake unaided lunar travel.

it was published as part of a broadside denouncing NASA's own lunar expeditions as hubris and folly. the final image is a photomontage in which the large tarpaulin klein leaped onto was removed. now that sounds like hubris and folly. whatever, he's still the creator of my favorite color ever.

Tuesday

ethel is a punk.

this weekend i spent about four hours putting studs on an old pair of boots. it can get pretty addicting.

solid gold.

i'm not saying i'm obsessed with emma watson's burberry dress and shoes from her appearance at london fashion week, but i'm not not obsessed with it either.

Monday

the idea of gluing something onto something else.

i've been making more collages. it's really fun and helps clear away the cobwebs (and piling magazines).
