after spending a week looking at art that cost thousands to millions of dollars, it's really refreshing to see great work that is totally affordable. both of these posters, by eleanor grosch and wayne pate respectively, are hand screenprinted and both are only $40. seems almost criminal!

i wish that there was a more generic version of this show poster by the {always amazing} dan mccarthy. i never snuck out when i was young, but i would've to see sonic youth!

marianne lodge’s practice writing book from 1847. made of real vellum with beautiful calligraphy and a collection of pasted on wax seals. this amazing specimen is from book collector j.p. williams new blog. i love to see into other peoples lives.

color by letter.

i'm putting this here to remind me to print this out and hang it on my studio wall. wonderful words of wisdom from the always inspiring sister corita kent. i was given a copy of this early on in my undergrad and i think that it had a huge impact on me. that list of helpful hints describes me to a T.

busy busy.

guys, it's not even mid-terms yet and i am always so busy with school! i never even have time to sit and explore the world-wide-web, so here is something that my teacher showed us in class today. as a printmaker and textile designer it is so astounding to watch him work.

beautiful prints in great colors from spanish design firm su turno. i really like how they use some many different media to create the design; marker, watercolor; block prints, color pencil, cut paper, but they still have a cohesive feel.

i've always loved david hockney's etchings. artist and model, half-ground etching, soft-ground etching, & sugar-lift aquatint; 1973-74.

in college i took an alternative {non-silver} photographic class and lately i've been thinking about working with cyanotypes again because it's such a magical process. i was just doing a bit of research and came across the smithsonian's flickr. it included these images which are seriously some of the most beautiful things that i've seen in quite a while.

pretty pain.

brazilian designer alexandre herchcovitch teamed up with band-aid to design these insanely pretty, uh, band-aids. i love that they are circles, the little "spot" ones were always my favorite. if i had to use one to cover up each of my current mosquito bites, i would have to use the entire box! at least then i would look like a very fashionable leper. unfortunately, i think that they are only available in brazil.

danger at work.

daniel danger is working on a new screenprint that will top out at a whopping 15 colors! my undergrad was in printmaking and although i never attempted anything quite this involved, it is really, really making me miss being in the studio! you can follow his whole process, color by color, over at his blog.
