Saturday

oh, margot.

last night i was googlin' around and i found this beautiful drawing of margot tenenbaum. i love the line work, it really captures the spirit of the character.

i know you said i couldn't go...

i wish that there was a more generic version of this show poster by the {always amazing} dan mccarthy. i never snuck out when i was young, but i would've to see sonic youth!

Monday

you were in my dream last night.

i've posted about ray fenwick's work before and i have no qualms about doing it again. i love the conversational nature of his illustrations. makes me want to say "who me? yeah? hi! ok!?"

Wednesday

attention san francisco!

my friend took a picture of this billboard at valencia and guerrero off of 16th in s.f. and I WANT IT. while it's pretty impractical for me to get a billboard shipped across country, i'd at least like to know who the artist is, so that i may harass them into making prints of it!!!

Friday

Monday

sunny-land pandora and saroyan by clare turlay newberry, foremost illustrator of cats and kittens. i wanna tug that fluff tail and squish those neck rolls!

"that will be the day
not of the white man, not of the black man.

that will be the day of man as man."

falling & laughing.

in the new vice there is an interview with edwyn collins, the singer from scottish twee pop band orange juice. in 2005 edwyn suffered two major brain hemorrhages that left him unable to walk, talk, or use his right hand. his brain also lost the ability to work out letters and words. over the next three years he began drawing animals, mostly birds, with his left hand as a way of teaching his body and mind how to work again. he recently had a show of these bird drawings at smithfield gallery in london.

Tuesday

working hard.

this is a busy week for me at work. i have a pretty lax job {hence all the posting} but about once every two months it gets a little crazy. hopefully next week i'll be back to posting about more thrilling items that will fulfill and enrich your life.

Thursday

jippie!

jip en janneke is a series of children's books in the netherlands illustrated by fiep westendorp. i first became, well...obsessed with them while visiting friends in amsterdam. they had jip en janneke mugs, plates, hairbrushes, everything! i needed to get some for myself and so they directed me to hema, which is like the target of holland. i got two small glasses [one of which was broken by customs, ugh] a sandwich shaped tupperwear and little candies and pencils. while visiting last year i got about 10$ in j&j postcards, magnets, juice boxes, and 2 books written in dutch that i swear i'm going to learn to read someday! i love holland so much and if i ever end up living there for an extended period of time, jip and janneke tattoos are surely in my future.
