shadow people.
my friend ted is a cool genius and he directed this video for dr. dog. it was filmed at one of the best places on earth, the holiday skating rink. you can see a bunch of my favorite regulars and it's so beautiful that watching this makes my heart swell and my eyes well.

parable.

"those thinkers in whom all stars move in cyclic orbits are not the most profound: whoever looks into himself as into vast space and carries galaxies in himself also knows how irregular all galaxies are; they lead into the chaos and labyrinth of existence." - nietzsche, the gay science

qui est GIGI?

as evidenced through josh gosfield's collection of magazine covers, snapshots, advertisements and album covers, gigi gaston had her meteoric rise and fall in the 60's-70's french pop music scene. however, this amazingly thorough archive covers something that never actually happened. gigi is a fictitious character 'played' by modern ye-ye sweetheart mareva galanter of the always amazing do you scopitone? i loooove stuff like this.

mono no aware!

my amazingly amazing friend steven is hosting the third installment of his mono no aware film fest this sunday, november 29th {tomorrow!} at the lumenhouse in brooklyn, ny. mono no aware is an international film event that includes super8mm or 16mm film format as part of that presentation. in previous years 16 film was blended with dance performance, super8 with live spoken word/audience involvement, & multi-projections with live jazz/musical devices. it is super cool and neat and fun and FREE and you should check it out.

go forth campaign.
these new levi's commercials, featuring my main man walt whitman's poetry, are really...invigorating. while they may not specifically make me want to buy jeans, they make me want to do something, which is more than i can say for most other commercials.
