i entered this design into spoonflower's fabric of the week contest! the theme was celestial and the artwork had to be created by hand, so i made these little watercolor meteorites flying through the rings of saturn, scanned them in and then played with the color in photoshop. i'm pretty happy with the results! if you want to vote for me {please!} click here and scroll down to find my design. if i win i get a free yard of fabric and i'll show you guys what amazing thing i make with it. vote!

tips.

if it were only that simple.

Wednesday

attention san francisco!

my friend took a picture of this billboard at valencia and guerrero off of 16th in s.f. and I WANT IT. while it's pretty impractical for me to get a billboard shipped across country, i'd at least like to know who the artist is, so that i may harass them into making prints of it!!!

Wednesday

breathe.

i really need to start practicing yoga again.

Monday

once upon a time...

you've probably seen the videos of capucine posted all over the internet and you have also probably fallen in love with her. thankfully her powers of preciousness are being used for good. edurelief has commissioned capucine {and her mother} to create t-shirts, magnets and buttons to raise money to help built and fill libraries in mongolia. and we all know that capucine loves to share good story.

for the world...

a gift of self-reliance.

through heifer international you can give a family in uganda their very own bee hive, plus apiary training, for a measly $30. bee hives can help struggling families become self-reliant and earn income through the sale of honey, beeswax and pollen. the honeybees won't only be helping a single family. placed strategically, beehives can as much as double some fruit and vegetable yields. in this way, a beehive can be a boost to a whole village! if bees aren't your thing you can donate towards a llama which will give latin american families an invaluable source of transportation, income and wool. joy to the world, and all that.

a gift.

happy monday everyone! i think that this week i'm going to be putting together a holiday gift guide. a nice lil something for everyone.

Tuesday

binding.

i woke up this morning with a pretty bad headache/migraine. ugh. good thing that i get to spend most of today working on wire naalbinding! i'm sure that staring at this all day:

won't be hurting my eyes at all. boo to that, because i've actually started to get the hang of it and my form is coming along nicely. i just don't know how ruth asawa does it.

Friday

practice makes perfect.

i've been writing a lot of letters lately, mostly using my trusty typewriter. my handwriting is pretty bad. well it will start out nice, but about two sentences in it gets sloppy and crooked. i need these cute handwriting exercise books from kiosk to relearn those perfect ps and qs!

Wednesday

south bound.

in a little over two weeks i'm going to be taking a short trip to savannah, ga! i am SO EXCITED to get out of this dreary city that i've already started mentally packing. the only thing is i don't have is the right sized bag for a 5 day trip; everything is either too big, too small, or too awkward to haul around. any ideas for mid-size duffles-totes-weekenders? it needs to be big enough to hold:

4 summer dresses
1 pair of jeans
2 t-shirts
1 cardigan
1 hoodie
2 pairs of flats
1 pair of sunglasses
1 digital camera
1 polaroid camera
1 dopp kit
1 BATHING SUIT {yay!}
and a moleskin and ipod too.

i am in LOVE with this m.p. karryall 'greco' duffle. but it is suede {poor sad cows} and $175 and therefore not a possibility.

and {against my better judgment?} i actually really like this blue lame duffle from american apparel as well, but i'm open to other options. help me??
