Thursday

space modern.

not only is this beauty created with the largest single piece of bentwood used to make a chair, it is also made with open cell visco elastic memory foam, used on NASA's spacecrafts, and is certified by the Space Foundation!

Saturday

panton pad.

the verner panton furnished and designed spiegel publishing house in hamburg, germany.
panton designed the entrance area with courtyard and lobby, the canteen and the bar areas, the swimming pool for the employees in the basement of the building, the rooms for the editorial conferences and the lounges, as well as the colour schemes for the hallways of the administration or editorial highrise buildings. all designs were his own – lamps, textiles and wall claddings, only the furniture had to be ordered from knoll international according to his contracts. the specially designed mirror lighting used on walls and ceilings was of major importance. while the swimming pool area was destroyed soon afterwards by a fire and the entry and lobby saw major redesign in the 1990s, the canteen has so far remained in the original version.
that swimming pool is killing me. and those chandeliers! the carpet! the ceiling!!!

Sunday

gor-geous.

i saw these chairs covered in amazing mokum fabric over at design sponge and it reminded me why i decided to go back to school. i want to create beautiful things and i can't get bogged down with the roundabout politics of grad school and forget that.

sit & stay a while.

when one of my friends comes over he always bypasses the couch and sits in my eames shell chair. this is why. wonderful, wonderful.

Monday

weekend.

this weekend i got my netflix of the first disc of planet earth. i've only watched the first episode so far, but it's so amazing. i think that i said "THAT'S CRAZY!" about 100 times during the first hour. having to wait a few days to get the next disc is going to be a minor torture. other than that i spent most of the weekend inside working on a piece for a show i'm in this friday. more about that later, if i ever get my hands on a flyer for it.

the most exciting part of my weekend, however, was counting and rolling alllll of my change. after dumping out my bunny banks and scrounging in the corners of my room i have an extra 46$ in my life! now all i need is 553$ more and i'll be able to afford an authentic eames wire chair with eiffel base {or another 184$ for a repro}. sheesh.
